CAIR-Nepal mourns the tragic loss of at least nineteen lives during the Gen Z– led protests on September 8, 2025, against censorship, corruption, and economic inequality. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and stand in solidarity with the people of Nepal.
CAIR-Nepal strongly condemns the use of excessive force against peaceful demonstrators. The violent suppression of citizens exercising their right to free expression is unacceptable and must be met with accountability and justice. CAIR-Nepal stands firmly with Gen Z in their right to peaceful protest.
We call on the responsible authorities to uphold fundamental freedoms, ensure an independent investigation, and take concrete steps to safeguard civil liberties and restore public trust.
In light of these tragic events, CAIR-Nepal also announces the postponement of its planned hackathon, Hack for Impact 2025. A new date will be announced once circumstances allow for the safe and meaningful participation of all involved.
